I Wasn’t Broken In The First Place

by Noise Pollution

You tried to light the shadow
on my face
You fought to make the bad things
go away
You placed your hands upon my
sunken cheeks
and sat beside my bed for
three long weeks

The light you shone just cast a
longer shadow
The fight you fought, it only
left me rattled
Your hands stayed pressed until
my face sunk deeper
You held me close until
I caught your fever

You tried to fix me til the
day you left
I guess I wasn’t good enough yet.
